Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? -Matthew 6:26

As we walk through this adventure called life, we remind ourselves that we are all precious children of our Father-- those of us who have walked a little further down the road striving to guide those who have been entrusted to our care for a time. Here is our journey down this path.

4 months!

Today marks four months since our Gotcha Day! Honestly, it almost snuck by me. I didn't really think about it until this evening as we were enjoying a vanilla cone at Sonic compliments of the coupon from the summer reading program at the library. Thomas said, "Well, we are celebrating right now!" Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture to mark the occasion. It would have been cute, too--she kept trying to bite the cone before the ice cream was down very far, so she had ice cream all over her little nose. (You can see that in you mind, can't you?) I know I have said this before, but it is just normal now that she is here. Four months doesn't seem like very long, but it is strange to think about our lives--and hers--5 months ago!

We have been busy with summer fun, so pics to come soon.

Tennis Anyone?

I have to give the boys credit--they kept asking to make a ping pong table, and it worked out quite nicely--and provided quite a bit of entertainment today!
2 rulers, some paper plates, tape, staples....

2 big clips, 2 straws, more tape, and paper! I was pretty impressed!

And--earlier today, we opened 2 'Young Savers' accounts with their earnings.

Several men told them how they did (or didn't) do the same when they were young and encouraged their responsibility...it was a great experience. And they were quite proud!

OUT! (finally!)

Wow! I really thought it was coming out later that day...when I posted the "almost" picture, but not Samuel...he hung on for a while looking all snaggle-toothed,

but tonight, he went to go get ready for bed and then, walked back in the living room and very calmly stated, "I just pulled my tooth." He looked a little more excited than he sounded!

2 years old

Well, to continue updating Cynthia's list of words...and some very typical 2 year old ones at that!

One, I love, because she says it so sweetly...and with such a cute smile....
"I do it." While looking at a book to turn a page, while closing a door, getting dressed, going up or down stairs, or basically anything else...you get the picture.

The other, not so much..."Mine!"

I guess it should reassure me that she is a normally developing, typical 2 year old, but it is difficult to hear that from such a sweet child who has only been here such a short time....how quickly she learns! :(

"Mommy, do you know what I feel like?" says Molly, while holding my old cell phone that she has been playing with non-stop recently.
"A teenager."
"Yes--I'll be right back, I have to go listen to a text message."
Don't grow up too fast, my sweet girl!

On the job

We wanted to get our boys started with some extra responsibility this summer, and to start learning about money management, so after some thinking, we came up with this........

The boys designed the flyer themselves (the file was named 'bissness'!), cut them apart, and put them on all of the mailboxes on our street--and a few other houses of friends close by.
It only took a day to get their first call and this last week, they were busy with 5 houses!!
They have had great (for the most part) attitudes about it, have remembered every day-especially Samuel-and are willingly doing their 'job'. It has been fun to see them take on something of their own.
And they are now deciding what to do with their earnings! We have discussed tithing, so they are deciding where they would like to give that portion, and then they have both decided to save the rest--I promise it was their decision--they even were really excited when we discussed opening a savings account for them. Thomas is pretty serious about saving up for a Ford F-150 when he gets older. Samuel is thinking of a Jeep.....Hopefully, they won't change their minds too quickly on our next outing to Target!

Fun 4th!

We had a great 4th of July weekend....thanks so much to our sweet friends. First, on Saturday, we were invited to the lake for the day. The weather was perfect. We had a full day with lots of jumping from the dock, some tubing and boat rides, lots of yummy food and great fellowship. No pics from that day, too much water for my camera to be around!
Then, another sweet couple offered us some Braves tickets for Sunday. So, after church, we loaded up in the car and drove over to the 'big city' to take in the game. The Braves lost, but we had a fun day at the park--

The pregame show was, of course, very patriotic. They had the biggest American Flag we had ever seen! I got teary eyed as I watched all of this holding Cynthia on my lap...what a perfect way to spend her first 4th...baseball, fireworks...Jeff said all we needed was apple pie!
And from our newest American Citizen........Happy 4th of July!
