Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? -Matthew 6:26

As we walk through this adventure called life, we remind ourselves that we are all precious children of our Father-- those of us who have walked a little further down the road striving to guide those who have been entrusted to our care for a time. Here is our journey down this path.

5 Months and catching up

Another milestone today...5 months since Gotcha Day.

With each day, this precious child becomes more a part of my heart than the day before. I love her more in the evening than I did that morning, even though I didn't think it possible.

She is a joy, a delight.....a BLESSING! If you EVER thought about adoption-stop thinking and do it! You will be immeasurably blessed.

We are coming up on our first 'post adoption' report.

China asks for 6 & 12 month follow up reports, so we have an appointment with our social worker next Tuesday in preparation.

In talking with her on the phone recently, she said she will ask about height, weight, shots, health, her adjustment, our adjustment, etc.

I felt a little Pollyanna-ish, but said, "Really, everything is great."

And meant it.

I couldn't have imagined an easier transition --for us or her.

Part of the report is pictures, so while the other 3 were at school the other day, I grabbed the camera and a prop and we headed outside.

She was in a fun mood-as usual.

We need 4 pictures---

how in the world do I pick only 4?!?!?

Any suggestions???

OK, getting a little sweaty (It was about 8:30 am!! I am ready for fall!)
And........done. "Stop, " she says. :)

Oh, did I mention 1 of the 4 has to be a family picture? So we tried for a few after church today...first, I tried to snap one of the kiddos.
Then everyone.......not bad, but no smile.....may try this again.

How about this one? More accurate?
Wonder what the CCAA would think of that? :) What is Cynthia thinking? (Although if you look closely, you will see she is sticking out her tongue, too! See, she is adjusting quite nicely, don't you think?)

Now for a few catch ups....
Molly started back to ballet last week. She was excited...sort of. On the way there, she said, "I'm not sure I want to do ballet again." After class, she was back in ballerina mode..."Do I get to come back tomorrow?"
Mommy could use some bun tips.......

Maybe from ballerina #2?

How about Spidey?
Have a great week!

Another First....maybe

Well, it has been a while....adjusting to the new schedule of school, soccer, ballet......so haven't been blogging for a while. Have some things to catch up on, so here is a start. Cynthia didn't have much hair when we brought her home, so this may not be the first for her, but it was the first with us. She definitely didn't need a true cut, but the back was starting to look a little like a tail, so we got just a trim. The sweet stylist didn't even charge me, saying, "Girl, you could have done this!" Well.....

Despite the expressions, she actually did great. Not a fuss.

Samuelism

We went to a wedding of a sweet friend yesterday. So excited for her and her new hubby. On the way to see them off, we were getting ready to blow bubbles and talking about the bird seed that our friends threw for us. Samuel thought for a minute and said, "At my wedding, people are going to throw MUD!"

Catching Up/Winding Down

This time next week, it will be a 'school night'. I am sad summer is coming to an end. It has been a relaxing, low key, hang out at the pool, read books, no big trips summer. It has been nice to not be on a schedule, to stay in our PJ's some days and to just enjoy being together. We did get to see my sister and her 2 kids recently and had a fun time at Papa & Grandma Carol's house.

Kyle is all boy and had fun with our big boys.

Elizabeth is too precious and it had been WAY too long since we saw her!

We were busy with lots of fun......ping pong........playing baby.......(wait that isn't a doll!)
cooking up some meals....listening to some music from my favorite musician!!!And just hangin' at Papa's!

One 'goal' of the visit was to get a picture of Papa, Grandma Carol and the 6 grandkids--I will spare you the dozens of versions and let them pick out their favorite for their Christmas card, but here are a few of our 4....of course I had to try...........

(nice feet!)

Later, we ventured next door to a truly remarkable place....Emma's!!!!! My parents' sweet neighbor loves to garden and her yard is amazing!

Now, why couldn't they all have looked at the camera when they were dressed up???!?!?

Checking out the fish pond:
And just exploring...............

As school nears, the kids are getting excited. We pulled out all of their school supplies and did the required labeling with names--each individual item, every crayon, every pencil!! Everyone wanted to help....at first. Mommy finished most of it!

Yesterday was a day of great anticipation as we were awaiting the class lists from the school....which teacher? who is in my class? When the mail came, great news!

Thomas is going into 4th grade this year!!!! He will have Mr. Greiner--his first male teacher--and he was SO excited. He is growing up so fast and becoming such an amazing kid. Such a sweet heart and a great big brother. Samuel is going to 2nd grade and has Miss Tyra--a new teacher to the school about whom we have heard wonderful reports already! Samuel has suddenly become so responsible. He is so helpful around the house and is the one who is on top of the 'job' schedule for the boys this summer, reminding us about when we need to go water and get mail from people's homes. Such a great kid!Molly is going to T-K (4 yr class) and has Mrs. Corbin who we are really excited about, too! My sweet Molly....how did she suddenly become a big girl? It seems she has really grown up in the past couple of months. Maybe becoming a big sister did it? Maybe it would have happened anyway. I am sad to see her go off to 'big' school soon. But glad it is 1/2 day and we will have lunch together. She lights up our lives! It looks to be the beginning of a great school year.

Now for a few more from Emma's yard--she is so sweet to let us roam around and share the beauty God created and she has tamed.
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.........
Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation"....and it was so....and God saw that it was good. Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden;..........The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.....God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it." God saw all that he had made and it was very good.
